Macro Photography
Hello Everyone, for the macro photography assignment I decided to look at objects around the house and a few outside. Its amazing what you can take photos of just in your own home. The first photo is of a crystal lamp that I bought for my living room. The second photo is a pinecone in the yard, which is probably my favorite photo. The third photo is of few leaves on a tree outside of my house, my second favorite photo. The fourth photo is running sink water sitting in the sink, the fifth is a regular orange I just bought from the store. The sixth photo is a soapy cutting board as it is being washed, the seventh photo is a leaf I brought inside to take the photo. Lastly I took a photo of a tree in my yard, I really liked the touch of green on the tree.

I have a part-time job at the Marsh Botanical Gardens on the Yale campus and we have some amazing flora. I took some pictures of walls, plants, flowers and insects on flowers. I tried to be brave and avoid the bee stings (major success). Pictures 18 and 19 are teo of my favorites. They are called the hanging lobster claw.with the above shot, look past the flower to the branch

Hidden Light Shadows
This assignment was one that was a bit challenging to capture, do to the timing of the day. My plan here was to think out of the box. I visited Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, CT. This area help me see some light shadows. I totally forgot that the sunsets so much earlier now. My plan here was to think outside of the box. So I took a photo of my dog Cali she is a American Bull dog. Her shadow look so cute as she sit there watching T.V. Below you will see one that I thought was cool. I took this shot at UCONN hospital. The shadow on the hallway floors was different to see. Overall, I enjoyed taking shots of where I travel and of my mom as well caught her being silly. Being mindful of the timing of the area and the timing of the day to get those good shadows.

Light & Shadows
At first I was not sure how I planned to capture the shots for this assignment; when I think of light and shadows I think of just before noon or later in the evening. I actually started with the 2 bottom shots, I took these on a stroll though the Yale area. I fell in love with that bridge and when I warmed the picture a little more it gave it a "dusk" feel, despite being taken about 1pm. Walking about to my house I kept playing with different ways to take the pictures, and captured the second one.
The first three I used my son as a little muse. We were going to the movies, he like to climb the walls and jump off the blocks, I noticed his shadow as he was doing this and snapped the picture mid fun (my favorite is the one of him jumping) and while walking in I notice the way the light poured into the windows, I then edited them to be black and white to add some drama. I was curious if it was ok that he was partially in the picture or if that does not work?
